NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- New York Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. said in a statement that the newspaper group is "deeply disappointed by Time Inc.'s decision to deliver the subpoenaed records." Earlier Thursday, Time Inc. said it would comply with a court order under which it must provide records to a grand jury convened for the Special Counsel's inquiry into the Valerie Plame matter. The Times publisher said the newspaper "faced similar pressures in 1978 when both our reporter Myron Farber and the Times Company were held in contempt of court for refusing to provide the names of confidential sources... Our focus is now on our own reporter, Judith Miller, and in supporting her during this difficult time."
