Your timing and history are a off.  Neoconservatism emerged well before the late 1970s and well before some of them broke with the Democrats - some, such as Daniel Patrick Moynihan never did..  For instance, Perle and others, identified with Democrat Senator Scoop Jackson in the 1970s. Steve
