The bookfair was well attended in S.Fran. and even got decent write-ups in the Washington Post. There were some interesting philosophies represented. The organizer, Aragorn!, of the San Francisco Eastbay group that holds theory discussion had a 'nihilism for children' coloring book, and was selling a board game developed by Guy Debord. He's into games.. often I can't figure out what he's talking about because I haven't read enough. I asked about the book and said my understanding of nihilism is that of the protagonist in The Stranger, and he said yes - and that there are several subtendencies from passive to active, and he can also rattle off on a bunch of other political philosophy subjects. They are holding a theory conference today. John Zerzan showed up to sell antitechnology tapes, and told people about his trip to Berlin earlier this year, and the alienation of modern life, but it was sort of mellow and boring, and no one really challenged him. Here - I know I have a future in radio: http://www.indybay.org/news/2005/03/1729781.php Note the glasses ( http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2005/02/06/PKGVIB4E271.DTL ), but I did notice he was not chain smoking like a nut, or at all when I was around. His ex-wife was complaining about that. they're having a Berkeley panel Monday at noon.
