[lbo-talk] alt-porn

That was really interesting for a whole bunch of reasons. I notice the author carefully qualifying any association between Ms Angel and creative inspiration or control of the product, and then the critical frame set up by the interviewee given the final word. I think these are clumsy tactics in a way, and I'm not sure if they're about the audience of the NYT or the opinions of the writer.

But I feel ambivalent about it as well because I more or less agree that porn is not cool. I think it very important to understanding porn that mainstream porn, big business porn, is not cool. There clearly can be cool niche markets for porn as art so why not alt-porn?

I'm researching for a paper now on porn and romance fiction... so thanks for this, Doug.
