Joanna: Somehow, he managed to get the cops, nurses, firemen, and teachers all organized against him. It looks bad. Doesn't seem to be able to spin himself out of this one.

WS: Is not it a "messiah syndrome" - people expecting someone, a father figure, come and save them from the trouble, and then, if the perceived "savior" fails to deliver their expectations, turning against him an trampling him under their feet?

More seriously, Arnie bashing is a diversion from the inherent stupidity of collective choices made by voting-turned-popularity contests. Arnie did not appoint himself, nor did he inherit the office - he was elected by a popular vote.

The messiah syndrome is what imho makes a popular democracy an impossible proposition. This country would be much better off if run by a team of professional civil servants instead of Podunk lawyers or B-movie actors turned politicos playing saviors for the people yearning for a father figure in their adult lives.
