FWIW I mentioned this interview last night to the sexy
Uzbek waitress Maiya at my local cafe-bar last night.
It turns out that she completely despises Gorbachev
and blames him for "destroying Uzbekistan."

She also says that when they reopened the mosques in
the 1990s Wahabbis started flooding into the country.
She seems to hate the Wahabbis even more than Gorbachev.

Nu, zayats, pogodi!
