BTW the Russian language has imported the tetm Gastarbeiter. Usually it means cheap immigrant labor from other former Soviet republics. I was by the Moldovan embassy the other day, it it was surrounded by a huge crowd of them. Other major sources are Ukraine and the various stans, Kazakhstan excepted, since the Kazakh economy economy is doing pretty well. There are lots of Vietnamese and Chinese too, but I think they are mostly traders. Most people in these groups are illegals. But the Russian gov is trying to encourage immigration. Russia is the No. 3 world destination for immigrants after the US and Germany.

Nu, zayats, pogodi!
