Unions allow workers to organize and gives them a means to make their condition as good as possible within Capitalism, but it does not allow anyone to change the fundamentally alienating and prostituting nature of this system.

Which, I might add, is based firmly on top-down power. The employer and employee enter in to either a consensual or a coerced social relation. The wage-slave is bound by contract recognized by the State.

The right-wing perspective is that the relationship is consensual. The left says that it is a coercive relation based on the dominance of the rich and the submission of the poor. The left says that the workers need unions to resist total rule by fiat of the employing class. The right says that unions are unnecssary "bureaucratic" obstructions to the liberty of individuals to buy and sell whatever they like in the free market.

Many marriages reflect this social relation of dominance and submission, with the worker making a wage-slave of the spouse.
