[lbo-talk] politics shocker: Dems resist neutering (for now)

I'm not sure what Chuck is referring to, but in the audience there were quite a few very feisty Democrats who were thirsting for blood. They were not at all pleased with the Republican wing of the Democratic Party. There was a bit of the debate about whether we should give the finger to the fundamentalists or learn to talk to them -- can we do not have to rehash here.

If the Democratic Party ever stopped pandering to its funders and listen to the sort of people whom I met at the talk, I think they could win pretty easily. The problem is the people who run the party of their position to the funders rather than the people they're supposed to represent. That is the reason why they took down Howard Dean, who even though he was one of the more conservative Democrats, at least showed that he had a backbone and was willing to talk back to the bastards.
