>... Milton Golos, 82, the American-born son of CP USA founding member
and Soviet NKVD agent Jacob Golos, volunteered into the Red Army on
June 22, 1941. Against great odds (as a non-Soviet citizen) he managed
to be drafted and was sent to the Baltic front as a mariner. At the time
in July, 1941 when his father, Jacob Golos, was asking his Soviet
contact "Leonid" to send his 18 year old son his paternal instruction to
enlist into the Red Army, Milton Golos had already been defending
Leningrad against the Nazi attack.
Milton (now Dmitry) is one of the few surviving mariner defenders of
besieged Leningrad. Four times wounded and disabled, American citizen
Milton Golos was honorably discharged in 1944. He would enter into
Soviet citizenship along with his mother at a later date.
It takes more research to find out about other Americans who fought
alongside Soviets in the Soviet battlefield.
