Janis and I just spent a heart-stopping amount of money on Stickley furniture -- dressers, a bed, night tables, coffee table, various living room tables and a TV table. Gorgeoeous stuff. As I mentioned to Doug, we may end up living in a cardboard box under W. Wacker Dr,, but it will be a beautifully furnished box. So, we not properly proletarian. Read William Morris on Socialism and Art. He thought that the problem with capitalism was that it made everything ((including people) ugly, and that the working class deserved beauty and style.
