I'm an optimist.

They should be careful what they wish for, they might get it.

Ditto on the filibuster rule change. Unless we care to conceive of a fascist state with Republicans as the only party... the repubs used the filibuster quite often when *they* were the minority party.

Maybe it's just my particular dealings with a broad cross section of society around here, I think the the cryptofacisct fundamentalist hordes are just as mythical as the "Moral Majority" of Nixon's era. And like the former, will rapidly and visciously turn on the Bush admin as quickly as the MM turned on Nixon once they found out how deep in he was, and honestly I don't think the average Californian is any less politically redneck than someone in... lets say urban North Carolina or Chicago or Kansas City.

When I was visiting my dad in Asheville NC last year I saw a bumper sticker on the back of a Lincoln Towncar that may summarize my sense of the majority feeling in the US.

It said: "Morals are Good... But Ethics are Important.

I sense that many folks are just "going along to get along" right now, but as soon as an opportunity presents its self there will be a swing left towards center.

It up to the whole "alternative nation" to present that opportunity.

I'm insinuating indirectly that those "circular firing squads" we like to giggle about are not only counterproductive, it's counter- revolutionary.

I just put the Obama Barack in there because it's sort of indicative of the level of frustration among the politically progressive elements within the democratic party.

Gotta get some rest... A guy from the 1st Air Cav walked up to me the other day while I was doing my agit-prop, asked me a few questions including how I felt about soldiers, to which I replied: "I support our troops 100%. Bring them home today...". He smiled and said "I *like* you!", and invited me to the Armistice Day parade downtown.

Remember World War Once?... We're up to WW 3X now, and quite a few people are looking for... ...options.

Leigh
