These aren't country hamlets. These are cities of hundreds of thousands of people. What does Parenti or anyone who would cite such statements as above know about who is destroying Iraq? Your head must be stuck somewhere, if not a cavity then perhaps 'sand'? You ought invert your subjects: The US Occupation would rather destroy and break up Iraq than let Iraqis run it.
