We shouldn't underestimate the might of Eurocapitalism. What unifies the EU isn't a constitution, but the acquis communautaire -- roughly 80,000 pages of legislation, covering everything under the sun, plus six decades of economic integration.
It's ironic, because the UK was certainly going to reject the constitution anyway, making the whole exercise pointless. It's nice to see the Euroleft find its feet again, after the 2002-03 slump.
