If you have taught for, say, ten years or more and never complained about 
your students, then you are either a saint or an asshole.  Every criticism I 
have ever made was made in a context of the political economy of colleges. 
Criticizing students isn't the same as dumping on them or making fun of 
them. I criticize my own kids sometimes.  They're doing the 9 to 5.  So does 
this mean I don't love them.  Does criticizing students mean that I didn't 
care about them?

Further, when  I didn't enjoy full-time teaching where I was teaching, I 
retired. I hope all you saints out there do the same.
