"Neo-colonialism" referred to the indirect control and exploitation of sovereign states by economic means as opposed to the older direct political control of colonies, so it seems to me that by this definition, it still exists and the the US remains its leading practitioner. Just a quibble; imperialism by any other name is still imperialism.

^^^^ CB: Yes, main organs of imperialism today are GATT regime, NAFTA regime , U.S. Treasury, IMF, World Bank, WTO. Bretton Woods Agreement is an imperialist regime. Castro's calls to "Cancel the Debts " a few years back was an anti-imperialist rally cry. Argentina won a big victory against imperialism when it repudiated its debt.

Imperialism ( an economic category) is alive and well.
