India will construct a urea production plant in Iran despite its vote against the country in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board meeting last month.
According to a contract signed between the two countries, India will build the plant using Canadian technical know how and deliver it to Iran within the next 21 months.
The plant, which will prove to be useful for the farmers, is slated to come on stream by 2006, reported Iranian Mehr News Agency.
The contract includes all the engineering operation, supply of equipment, construction and putting into operation of the plant, said Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, managing director of Iran's National Petrochemical Company (NPC).
Asked if India's vote against Iran at the IAEA Board of Governors has had any impact on bilateral cooperation, he said the foreign ministry should be asked the question.
