I saw Jackson on television with the governor--I think they were in Baton Rouge, but wouldn't swear to it. Here's a press report from Channel 2 in Baton Rouge: http://2theadvocate.com/livepages4/855.shtml
Jackson joins evacuation effort

The Rev. Jesse Jackson walked in to the press room of the OEP Thursday with a teary-eyed Gov. Kathleen Blanco.
"This is our own version of tsunami, and we need global relief," said Jackson.
Jackson is helping to transport by bus evacuees from New Orleans-area colleges such as Xavier and Southern University. He said there's a lot of work to be done in Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana, especially the New Orleans area.
"The storm is not over, yet we cannot panic in the storm," Jackson said.
Jackson said he plans to stay in the area for five or six days, or as long as it takes.
"Nothing can stop us from the evacuation process," said Jackson.
Jackson said he'll be traveling with three buses, but without security guards. "We'll take the risk," he said.
Jackson called this post-Katrina period "a great moment for sermons," urging churches to bring "good news" to the poor and desperate.

I think his grasp of homiletics may be weakening, but otherwise it's pretty solid stuff.
