AMFA Local 33 Will Move to Block Strikebreaker Buses from Leaving Hotels, in American Tradition of Civil Disobedience
--(BUSINESS WIRE)--4:00 p.m. Press Conference: As Labor Day Nears, AMFA Protests Northwest Airline's Callous Treatment of Employees WHAT: Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) Local 33 members and supporters will attempt to block buses carrying imported scabs (strikebreakers) from leaving three area hotels for Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. AMFA Local 33 will hold a press conference at one of the hotels to discuss this action that is in the American tradition of civil disobedience and to protest Northwest Airlines' callous treatment of employees on the threshold of Labor Day weekend.
WHERE: At 3:00 p.m., buses carrying AMFA Local 33 members and supporters depart for the following hotels: Holiday Inn Minneapolis Metrodome, 1500 Washington Avenue South (Seven Corners), Minneapolis; Radisson Hotel Metrodome, 615 Washington Avenue SE, Minneapolis; Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, 1330 Industrial Boulevard NE, Minneapolis.
At 4:00 p.m., AMFA Local 33 will hold a press conference outside the Holiday Inn Minneapolis Metrodome hotel.
