It was brought to my attention that there is an effort in NYC to pass a law requiring that co-op boards disclose reasons for refusing applicants. Apparently, NYC co-ops can refuse anyone without stating the reason.

That comes to me as a big surprise. Does not the Fair Housing Act apply to NYC?

^^^^^ CB: Fair Housing law doesn't mandate that a reason be given for not selling. It makes it illegal to refuse to sell for an invidious , discriminatory reason.
