Tanzania to host southern African fashion design contest
Fashion designers from six southern African countries are to compete in Dar es Salaam to see who designs best and the winner will be awarded a free trip and accommodation to Dubai to learn from their peers in other countries.
The competing designers will come from Botswana, Kenya, Lesotho,Mozambique, Swaziland and hosts Tanzania. Each country will be represented by two designers at the contest slated for November 26.
Apart from the free trip to Dubai of the United Arab Emirates, the final winner will also get 5,000 US dollars as cash prize in addition to the trophy to be known as Redd's Africa Fashion Design Award.
Television viewers in the participating countries will determine the overall winner by voting for designs through SMS's after having watched a specially made fashion program, according to the organizers of the event.
