Fair enough, I guess. But, he does have a wit and even though I don't
read his novels or pay much attention, a few of his bon mots have stuck
fast through the years:
"What they want in this country is capitalism for the poor and socialism for the rich."
"Nowadays everything changes except the avant garde."
"What intellectuals want is to have their heads in the eighteenth century and their asses in the twentieth century."
