There was an article in the SF Chronicle today about how 1/2 the crops
in Calif are rotting in the fields because there are no migrant workers
there to pick them. This is because some have been sucked into the
building boom and some have been hurled back over the border by
immigration sweeps and tougher border patrols. This will result in higher food prices, better wages for the workers in the fields now, and perhaps, some backlash against the rednecks patrolling the border.
