Most Americans disagree with the controversial assertion -- made by rapper Kanye West during a telethon for hurricane victims -- that Bush doesn't care about black people. In the poll, 62% of Americans say he does care, and 31% say he does not. However, black Americans see things differently -- just 21% of blacks believe Bush cares about them, while 72% say he does not.
Overall, just 14% of blacks approve of the job Bush is doing as president, roughly the same as the ratings blacks have given Bush over the first eight months of the year.
