So even though the character's called The Kid, and
began in his days with Dean Martin where he played an adult child trying to
imitate and impress Martin, and embellished this character on film using
adolescent -- not disabled -- themes, you know for a fact that Lewis was
deliberately mocking those who cannot walk or speak. Well, I can't argue with
mind-reading. If that's what he was doing then he sure as hell did it in the
most roundabout manner possible. Also note that The Kid, while Lewis' most
famous creation, was not Lewis's only creation. Buddy Love, for instance, was a
lounge lizard -- but that's what Lewis wanted you to think!

"spastic" to describe his comedy. In fact, he's been incredibly nasty to
those who have. His main character, The Kid, is an overactive nine-year-old
boy inside a man's body. To say that he's mocking the disabled is projection
of the most political kind.
