Yep. Not just one, but many of them, joining in one after another like a chorus from hell. Suburban noise is often more annoying than urban noise.
In B'more, it is emergency vehicles, trucks, buses, and helicopters that are the worst offenders. SUVs with "sonic booms" are the second worst. Car alarms and drivers honking their horns instead of using doorbells or mobile phones are the third worst.
And then there is the myriad of ubiquituos electronic beepers and alarms emittiing their soft-yet-annoying, passive-aggressive noises: mobile phones, reverse-gear signals, car and fire alarms, computers, watches, timers and kindred gizmos.
The US is a noisy place, indeed, much more so than most overseas places.
