British-invested ICI Viet Nam Co Ltd, a subsidiary of ICI Paints, Friday began construction work on a paint factory in the southern province of Binh Duong following the recent issuance of a 49-year operating license.
Covering a 6 hectare site in the My Phuoc II Industrial Zone, the US$19.8 million plant is ICI Group's largest project in Asia for a decade.
With an annual capacity to produce 24 million litres of paint in its initial phase, the factory is scheduled to be up and running by mid 2007 employing than 200 workers.
ICI Paints established the ICI Paint Joint Venture Company in Viet Nam in 1996.
