Yes, perhaps this is a "be careful what you wish for" story as the Russian capitalists beath the U.S. capitalists at their own game.

They just used different strategies that were standard capitalist practices around the turn of the century, such as cartelization or taylorization (of which Lenin was a big fan). Now it is market-schmarket. Socialism was just a managerial ideology to keep the Russian masses in line.
But I fully agree with you that I would settle for this, for now. US capitalists grew too self-confident and brazen, and a serious reality check is in order. And nothing makes a capitalist tremble more than competition he cannot collude with.
