[lbo-talk] Connecticut results

Have the networks stopped doing exit polls? I doubt it; they need the data. The question is, when does the data leak out? Various laws and customs prevent them from saying a word until the moment the polls close (or perhaps
:59), when, based on such sources, they are sometimes immediately able to
announce a winner. (They can't release poll results early since Bridgeport and Danbury have been in different time zones with different voting times ever since the former had a socialist mayor:-).) But the experienced Kremlinologist can read their faces all day. Of course, in the '04 election, Kerry people were prematurely celebrating victory by mid-afternoon on the basis of leaked exit polls.
