[WS:] That is rather tame vis a vis the nativist stuff described in the series of articles "White Heat" in the last issue of The Nation. What transpires from The Nation series is that this is mainly "on popular demand" - even ex hippies fall for this. Politicos and moral entrepreneurs merely exploit that popular demand for their own political or pecuniary profit.
