There are times when I wonder how little the skeptics on 9-11 on left listservs know about plots like this. http://www.thememoryhole.org/911/dia-bojinka.htm
>>> I sent the National Security Agency a Freedom of Information Act
request asking for files on Project Bojinka. (Bojinka was the plot by radical Islamists—led by WTC-bomber Ramzi Yousef—to 1) blow up a dozen US passenger jets in mid-flight, 2) assassinate President Clinton and the Pope, and 3) ram hijacked passenger planes into US landmarks, including the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, the White House, CIA Headquarters, and the Sears Tower.) The plot was discovered in 1995 when authorities in the Philippines raided Yousef's apartment.

This book by Peter Lance, "COVER UP: WHAT THE GOVERNMENT IS STILL HIDING ABOUT THE WAR ON TERROR, " has a lot on this. http://www.peterlance.com/ Interview with Lance on Democracy Now! http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=03/09/23/1258253 Tuesday, September 23rd, 2003 Democracy Now! Hosts a Debate On the Roots of 9/11 and the Failures of Three Successive Presidential Administrations to Stop Bin Laden.

We speak with author Peter Lance, a five-time Emmy-award winning investigative reporter and former ABC News correspondent. His latest book is 1000 Years For Revenge: International Terrorism and the FBI – The Untold Story which outlines how the FBI missed dozens of chances to stop the Sept. 11 attacks going as far back as 1989.

And Richard Miniter, investigative reporter and author of Losing bin Laden: How Bill Clinton's Failures Unleashed Global Terror that claims that President Bill Clinton had the opportunity to stop, catch, or kill bin Laden more than twelve times during his presidency and knowingly refused to wage a real war on "terror" which may have prevented the Sept. 11 attacks. [Includes transcript]

BTW, Miniter's more recent book, blurbed by Hitchens, is a good read. Mostly focuses on left-liberal soundbite cliches but, goes after a few right-wing canards as well.
