Setting up a straw man goes hand in hand with sectarianism,
characteristic of US leftists, which explains an absence of any
organization that can unite most US leftists.

I'm not talking about those who have "firmly left politics of some
sort" -- I'm talking about those who have dominant or residual
commitment to socialism. I have no idea how large the latter group
is, but it's probably somewhere between 10,000 to 100,000, not all of
whom are activists.
