Goethe Institute in Hanoi is holding a range of activities to commemorate the 50th death anniversary of the famous German poet and playwright Bertolt Brecht (1898- 1956).
A talks by Professor, Doctor Heinz Schuette on the life and great works by Bertolt Brecht is being held this afternoon, December 6. Achievements of literature by Bertolt Brecht, which were considered unseparable with political events of the time of the author as well as the ideology he pursued are highlighted at the symposium.
On the same day, a film portraying the life the Bertolt Brecht, entitled 'Love, Revolution and Other Dangerous Things', is screened. The film, directed by Jutta Brueckner, touches upon focal points of Bertolt Brecht's life.
A poetry night will be held the following day, December 7, with the introduction of a collection of 59 poems by Bertolt. This is the first anthology of Bertolt Brecht ever published in Vietnam. The poems are translated into Vietnamese by Quang Chien. The anthology is published by the Writers' Association Publishing House and Nha Nam Communication Company.
German poet, playwright, and theatrical reformer was one of the most prominent figures in the 20th century theatre. He had created 2,000 poems and dramas and many of which raised the voice to fight against fascism and discrimination all over the world.
