JOHOR BARU, Malaysia, Dec 7 (Reuters) - Seagate Technology (STX.N: Quote, Profile , Research), the world's biggest computer disk drive maker, plans to set up a plant in Malaysia to make substrates for storage devices, Chief Executive William Watkins said on Thursday.
The plant will create 2,500 new jobs when it is fully operational, Watkins said in the southern Malaysian town of Johor Baru at a function to announce Seagate's first plant in Asia for the manufacture of aluminium substrates -- the base platters used in the assembly of hard disk drives.
