To paraphrase Gandhi, I think it would be a great idea.

In reality? Or in the realm of oughtness?
In reality, the Bush administration will determine whether US troops will remain in Iraq over the next two years -- not the Iraqis and not the US populace, because neither has a mechanism to force them to change.
I guess I must not have been clear, because everyone has given my piece the same reading as you. I'm not disputing what ought to be. I wondering about things as they are. It's my premise -- which I don't think anyone is disputing? -- that the majority of US troops will be in Iraq two years from now. And given that that is going to be true, I'm was wondering about its consequences -- and found myself surprised at how beneficial they seemed to our side.
