ISLAMABAD : A 10-day joint exercise by the militaries of China and Pakistan ended on Monday with reiterations from both sides of their commitment to fight terrorism, separatism and extremism. The exercise was held in the mountains near Abottabad in the North-West Frontier Province and was focussed on anti-terror operations. People's Liberation Army's Lt. Gen Lu Dengming, Chief of Staff, Chengdu military area, was present at the concluding ceremony and according to a statement from the military, he praised the Pakistan army as a "highly professional" force.
Lt. Gen Tariq Majid, Corps Commander, Rawalpindi, said "the mutual rapport and personal understanding that has been developed during the course of this exercise would go a long way in cementing long lasting friendly relationship between Pakistan and China". According to the military statement, the two sides expressed "complete satisfaction" at the successful completion of the joint exercise, and the possibility that it may "expand in level and scope in future."
