up of scenes from tons of movies--- good, bad, and ugly--- that were

shot in Los Angeles, with running commentary from Thom Andersen, a

leftie film teacher at California Institute for the Arts.

I am very fond of the film -- wished it was twice as long as it was.

The film's title is also a variation on the queer erotic classic LA PLAYS ITSELF (1972) by Fred Halsted, one of the greatest avant garde films of the 70's.
