Vietnam's rice exports to Japan increase http://www.nhandan.com.vn/english/business/261206/business_v.htm
In a bidding session in mid-December organised by the Japanese government in Tokyo, Vietnamese rice traders won a bid to supply 5,000 tonnes of rice to this market, the Vietnam Trade Office in Japan announced on December 12. This is the seventh time this year Vietnam has won contracts to export rice to Japan, bringing the total rice exported to the market to over 124,000 tonnes.
Japan is a hard-going market for quality of imported rice. Thus, the increase of rice exported from Vietnam to Japan has asserted the prestige of Vietnam's rice products.
However, the office has also warned that Vietnamese rice exporters have to carry out regular strict inspection before exporting rice to Japan. (Lao Dong)
