My sixth sense told me a screed from Edward Herman was coming.

This list has debated these issues and histories many times. I rather doubt anyone wants another slugfest. Read these, then offlist, if you care to. But, I sense a very orthodox pov ("red-baiting", why Ian Williams of The Nation served on the CC of a M-L party in the 70's, the same one Bill Warren was in, IIRC. Even I get tired of debating Dinosaurismuses, like the fellow today who, sincere and militant as he is, can't understand why allegations Trotsky consorted w/German and Japanese fascists might be offensive...)

James Heartfield, one can discuss these issues with and disagree w/o unneccessary rancor and learn something, perhaps even modify one's opinion but I've never met or talked with anyone who cites Edward Herman on this w/o feeling one was wrestling w/ an ideologue. (Not that I'm not one too, heh, as Terry Eagleton said , "His thought is red-neck, yours is doctrinal, mine is deliciously supple." "Ideology, like halitosis, is what the other person has, " as quoted by Christopher Norris in Socialist Register 1993, pg. 63, polemicizing vs. the Marxism Today Eurocommunist Revisionists.) http://citycellar.com/BalkanWitness/Srebrenica-debate.htm
