well, how about another example of 'american exceptionalism', doubt that i know enough about labor history in other countries (probably don't know enough about it in u.s.), but why let that stop me from posting my *opinion*...

so, for a start, here goes, u.s. capital was more vicious, lackey political state, vulnerability of decentralized organizing by/ localized jurisidictions of u.s. unions, belated political state recognition of organized labor, absence of labor party... mh (a former teamster, of whom good friend of mine used to say problem was with their ends, as means were pretty successful)
