In Chicago, there used to be an AM radio station named WCFL, where the last three letters stood for Chicago Federation of Labor. When I listened to it in the '60s and early '70s, it was a "top 40s" rock station.
Is it possible that many working-class people see unions as a means of upward mobility, so when they become union leaders (if they do), they use the union for that purpose? Of course, that would please the employers... -- Jim Devine Bust Big Brother Bush!
