Hey, what about what it was worth AFTER the development was proposed? If BigBoxCo wants to make a killing by using the prime real estate they have their eye on, why not make 'em pay for it? I guess they already bought the goons who do the kicking out (aka your so-called elected officials), so why should they have to pay twice?

CB: My father , Lawyer Brown, used to tell me the story that one Lawyer Wanzo won this principle - that the fair market value of the land for purposes of just compensation would be value post-development - in a case coming out of the Urban Renewal projects that removed Detroit's Black Bottom from the near Eastside in the late 1950's. (Wanzo thereby got a cut of each land case's increase in sale price, for winning the class principle).
