[lbo-talk] Speaking of bad Wikipedia articles

I found a good one:

Roots (TV miniseries) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roots_%28TV_miniseries%29

For one of the most important TV miniseries in history, this is a short entry compared to entries on other TV shows and movies. There are B movies with longer entries than the most popular TV miniseries of all time. First of all, the entry doesn't even have easy stuff like a cast listing and production credits. There are no pictures from the miniseries. There is no summary of the story, although the entry for the book version does have a summary of the plot.

The entry manages to shovel in the usual batch of Wikipedia trivia instead of substantive words from articles and papers on the subject. The entry informs us that comedian Dave Chappelle did a sketch poking fun at the miniseries. Even more bizarre is a sentence mentioning Ayn Rand's thoughts on the mini-series, which was appended to a paragraph about the production of the miniseries.

Grade: C-
