A very accurate phrase. Coppola remains the greatest director of systems films.
The film took over a year to edit, Gaghan had so little visual sense when he was filming.
What is interesting is that the only purely beautiful shot and composed scene in the entire movie is of the boat with the bombs being aimed at the tanker. A single grace note in a rather laborious work.
