A government can produce public goods (education, health care, etc.), but it can also produce public bads (a giant military, a huge prison, big pollution, etc). Both need to be paid for. How are public goods and bads to be paid for? Taxes and user fees. Where do taxes and user fees come from? Profits created by workers in the private sector.
