Actually, considering the enthusiasm in, for example,
the Paul Berman wing of left leaning thought for a
marriage of laser guided munitions with "American
ideals" (so lofty and bright, even angels may swoon at
the thought of them) I'm surprised it took so long for
this sort of thing to be born.
