This was on Democracy Now but I think it bears
repeating -- an Army officer convicted with wrapping a
detained Iraqi general in a sleeping bag, tying
electrical cord around him, sitting on his chest, and
thereby killing him, was just handed a $6,000 fine and
restricted to travel between his home, office, and
"his church" for 60 days. That's it. Iraqi general
Abed Hamed Mowhoush was in captivity for 16 days
before warrant officer Lewis Welshofer entered his
cell and killed him.

By contrast, some anti-war activists were just given
6-8 months jail time for protesting Army recruiters!
(Granted the method they protested was dumb, but they
didn't murder anyone, etc.)

Also, of course, iraqbodycount.net says between 28,000
and 31,000 Iraqis have been directly killed by US
forces since 2003, a number that seems a bit low.
Dunno how many folks are in jail for that one.
