The Washington post has an article on the social psych research behind
political proclivities. what they find isn't especially surprising: people
make emotionally- and ideologically-based decisions; partisans can't deal
with criticisms of their party/candidate; they reward themselves like
addict for ignoring the truth about their preferred candidate/party; and,
while US society is racist in general, the correlation between racist
prejudice and support the republican party is higher and consistently so, a
finding backed by plenty of othe research.
What is truly outrageous is the structure of the entire article. Excellent
of example of structural racism.

"Scream-of-consciousness prose, peppered with
sociological observations, political ruminations, and
in-yore-face colloquial assaults."
