[In the articles below do we see a likely pretext for the long anticipated U.S. attack on Iran? Hostages taken by Hezbollah are - it is alleged- ttransfered to Lebanon, becoming an apparent second Iran hostage crisis seized upon by a United States eager to strike at the Iranian Government. It may well be that the nerve center of the attack on Lebanon is in Washington DC and not the Israeli government. SR]

Soldiers 'being smuggled out'

Jerusalem - Israel has information that Lebanese fighters who captured two Israeli soldiers are trying to transfer them to Iran, foreign ministry spokesperson Mark Regev said.

Regev did not disclose the source of his information. [From the Pentagon in DC? SR]

Hezbollah fighters, who are backed by Iran, seized the soldiers on Wednesday in a cross-border raid. Israel has since attacked Lebanon by air and sea, and has sent in troops to look for the captured soldiers.

Iran denies Israel fears that soldiers head to Iran

TEHRAN, July 13 - Iran's Foreign Ministry denied on Thursday Israeli suggestions that Iranian-backed Hizbollah guerrillas could take two captured Israeli soldiers from Lebanon to Iran, saying Jerusalem was "talking absurdities".

"I strongly deny such reports," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said. "Because of its desperation and increasing isolation in the world and because of the tension and crisis created inside Israel, it is now talking absurdities."
