US continues assisting Vietnamese people with disabilities http://www.nhandan.com.vn/english/life/120706/life_us.htm

The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced a grant of US $ 102,135 to the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation (VVAF) to continue its physical rehabilitation programme in Vietnam, said the US Embassy in Hanoi.

The programme will help relevant Vietnamese institutions provide appropriate rehabilitation services to people with disabilities, deliver and fit prosthetic and orthopedics devices, and train rehabilitation practitioners in Vietnam.

It will also supply financial support to patients in the northern provinces of Ha Giang, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam, Hoa Binh and Thai Binh.

The funding is sourced from USAID's Patrick J Leahy War Victim's Fund, which contributes financial and technical assistance to improve economic, social and political integration of disabled people worldwide.

Since 1991, the US has provided over US $34 million to support people with disabilities in Vietnam. (VNA)
